Digital Marketing: A Best Practices Approach

Today, March 11th, PepperDigital hosted a PRNews Webinar on digital communications called “Building and Managing Your Company’s Reputation Online”. Steve Cody, of Repman blog and managing partner and co-founder of Peppercom,  Sam Ford of MIT's Convergence Culture Consortium and Paula Berg of Southwest Airlines all lead a discussion on how/why blogs, podcasts, videos, etc. are important and effective communications tools.

We all know that Web 2.0 has taken the enterprise marketplace by storm, but, as corporate America races to keep up with the changing digital landscape, some have crossed the victory line, while others have never left the gate.   The Webinar focused on the dangers and pitfalls of not following the rules, and the market opportunity available to those companies who understand the need for transparency and can leverage the spirit of Web 2.0 to achieve marketing goals.

Steve Cody concluded the Webinar with some smart thinking, here it is:

Years ago businesses felt the pain of rapidly changing technology. They have adapted to this thanks to best practices and IT teams that more actively support the needs of the business. The new challenge digital media presents can be solved in a similar way:

  • Surround yourself with experts who have a deep understanding of marketing, yet have hands-on experience with technology
  • Form best practices and work with your experts to keep them up to date
  • Learn from the mistakes – and capitalize on the success – of others in the space
